Stimulate Healing and Promote Overall Health with Cryotherapy

At Sculpted Medical Spa & Cryotherapy Center, Evelyn Lorents, MD, wants you to experience overall health and wellness. Non-invasive cryotherapy offers a wealth of benefits and can treat a wide range of health issues at our Oklahoma City, OK, practice. During this treatment, you will stand in a special chamber, cooled by liquid nitrogen. In a matter of minutes, the temperature of your skin will be lowered to somewhere between 30 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. This cooler temperature will stimulate blood flow to help reduce pain and inflammation, restore healthy skin, and burn calories. The treatment can also help boost your mood and improve athletic performance. We pride ourselves to deliver the most effective cooling in OKC metro safely at -220C degrees!

Do I Make a Good Candidate?

Cryotherapy has a diverse range of applications. It may be a good option for you if you suffer from any of the following conditions:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune diseases
  • Spinal inflammation
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Recent surgery or a sports injury
  • Other types of pain and inflammation

Furthermore, cryotherapy has additional benefits to improve your systemic health. These include:

  • Increasing your metabolism
  • Burning calories (500 to 800 per session)
  • Boosting your immune system
  • Boosting collagen levels
  • Improving your libido
  • Releasing endorphins to improve your mood
  • Reducing cellulite and visible skin blemishes

How Does Cryotherapy Work?

If you have ever placed an ice pack on a bruise or aching tooth, you have experienced the basic principles utilized in cryotherapy. By quickly reducing your body’s temperature, the treatment will have a number of effects. First, it will constrict blood vessels in your extremities, which reduces inflammation in your muscle and skeletal systems, allowing blood to reroute to your core and major organs.

In response, there will be higher nutrient and oxygen levels in your blood, and your system will more effectively flush away toxins. Your body will also raise its white blood cell count, which will further ease inflammation and promote a stronger immune system.

Your body may also produce less cortisol, a hormone connected to anxiety and depression.

As the circulation increases in your core, it will reduce water weight and stimulate your endocrine response. Your body will then release more endorphins, and may also produce less cortisol, a hormone connected to anxiety and depression.

What Is a Session Like?

When you undergo cryotherapy at our practice, you will step inside a special chamber that will leave your head exposed. Cooled by liquid nitrogen, the air temperature in the chamber will be between -100 and -274 Fahrenheit.

In just three minutes, the subzero air will cool your skin by at least 30 degrees, triggering the before mentioned reactions. As your body warms up after the treatment, blood will quickly flow back to your extremities. This circulation will help repair damaged muscles, especially after athletic injury.

Cryotherapy sessions are $25 for the first treatment. After that, each single treatment is $35. You can also purchase membership packages with three treatments for $90 or five sessions for $125. Our monthly/unlimited packages include up to three treatments per week and cost $225.
